These are Lehmann’s initial sketches (preliminary drafts) for DSM, made in 1943, that she felt were crude and “childish.” She later redid them. These are examples of what we already have so you can familiarize yourself with the story content. The newer ones we are looking for would be more refined. SC has better images than these, somewhere in storage. Notice the green ribbon pictured throughout, which is a visual feature that could help indicate you have found images from this song cycle. (BTW, the title translates to The Fair Maid of the Mill, or The Lovely Mill Maiden – so you might see images related to those words as well.)
